FL Academy is a licensed, family-owned and locally operated child care center. We focus on providing an enriched quality early learning program that includes a positive environment and provides a variety of activities and materials.
We aim for our children to grow in all the developmental areas: language and literacy, social-emotional, physical and cognitive. Meals and snacks are included with tuition.
At FL Academy, we also take your children's safety seriously. As part of keeping your children protected, all parents must be buzzed in before entering and ID verification is required.
FL Academy is a learning community that is home to joyful, nurturing, and creative learning experiences. Our qualified staff implement a research-based curriculum that nurtures the unique strengths, interests, and needs of every child. By incorporating meaningful learning experiences, children are engaged in purposeful learning.
We aim to educate and reach the whole child, including social–emotional skills, cognitive skills, language, and physical development. Our curriculum offers multifaceted opportunities for children to experience the multi-cultural diversity of our community. Decorations, songs, and holiday celebrations will be demonstrated throughout the school year and will reflect a variety of traditions. We value children's home languages.
We provide parents with strategies to help them have an understanding of the importance of communicating in the home language, while they support a child in the process of learning a second language.
Families have the opportunity to become active participants in their children’s education by partnering with the teachers at family meetings, special activities, and events. Through the collaboration of parents, teachers, and staff, we are supporting children’s optimal development and learning.
By exposing our children to a diverse curriculum and differentiated activities, we will develop life-long, intrinsic learners.
We believe a warm, loving, and nurturing environment is the key to children’s development. Our teachers encourage social-emotional development through personal interaction and sensory awareness. In this stage, children are exploring and learning to trust others. In our hands-on curriculum, the teachers help the infants achieve developmental milestones needed to enter the toddler program.
Toddlers' desire to explore new objects and curiosity is increasing. During this stage, toddlers continue to understand much more than they can say, and they are beginning to learn to express themselves. The Creative Curriculum used in the classroom helps us be intentional about the experiences we offer toddlers, while still having the flexibility to respond to the child’s interests, learning styles, and abilities.
Our daily lessons focus on language development, fine/gross motor skills, exploring, and discovering mathematical relationships. During experiences time, toddlers visit the centers in the classroom to explore, interact and learn.
Preschoolers have active imaginations, and those imaginations can be nurtured to fuel learning and creativity. The preschool environment is set up to encourage exploration. Our teachers provide opportunities for dynamic experiences that promote children’s critical-thinking skills and inspire joy in learning.
We help children develop a drive to learn that they will take with them throughout their time in school. The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool used in the classroom features hands-on, project-based investigations as a pathway to learning.
It features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills. Studies have found that purposeful and productive play is positively related to memory development, positive approaches to learning, language and literacy skills, math skills, and symbolic thinking.
We incorporate all styles of learning and provide individualized instruction in our daily lessons. Our lessons build on children’s cognitive development through literacy, language, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, motor experiences, and physical health. Through language development, children’s vocabulary and comprehension of words are refined.
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program is offered by the State of Florida to all 4 year-olds born on or before September 1st who reside in Florida. The school-year VPK program includes 540 hours of instructional time beginning in August.
The VPK program prepares early learners for kindergarten success and beyond using VPK state standards. Our VPK helps build a strong foundation for school using educational material corresponding to various stages in a child's development and most importantly welcoming the child to a warm and caring environment.
FL Academy is a certified VPK Provider. For more information on the VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) program, please visit www.vpkhelp.org.
